The Barrie Centre for Green Technology converts a vacant department store into an educational centre to attract citizens to the city's core. Sounds, textures, and programmed events encourage repeat visits and enforce memory of place. Interactive displays, a sustainable condo exhibit support the environmental initiatives of the BCGT and include rooftop access where demonstration planters will promote urban container gardening.
The Green Building Resource Center is an invaluable tool for those interested in learning about sustainability, green technology, and green building. It is open to the public six days a week, and is accessible to anyone from green building experts to city homeowners. Features include a sample library of eco-friendly building and design materials, web resources and reference books and US Green Building LEED™ reference materials.
